Team Chunky or Creamy?
I admit. The internet can be divided when it comes to a chunky avocado salsa or a smooth creamy one like this recipe of mine.
But no matter which route you go, remember that lemon juice or lemon prevents avocado from discoloring.
Tossing your avocado in a splash of lemon or lime juice right after you scoop them out helps retain that gorgeous green. Pinky promise- you do not need other shortcuts.
Ingredients
Avocados and lime juice are non negotiable in this recipe. Other than that, you can add your own touch to it in so many ways.
- Add Jalapenos or serrano peppers or any moderately hot chilis for heat.
- Garlic powder is a Godsend if you do not want to peel garlic and chop them too.
- Cumin powder and salt add flavor to this salsa. Earthy cumin, for me , is inseparable from salsa and Pico de Galo.
Recipe Notes
- Pick ripe avocados for best results. If you live in Germany, look for essreif or vorgereifte Avocados in supermarkets like Aldi, Rewe or Lidl.
- You can use lemon juice instead of lime juice. Both work well in this recipe.
- Replacing one green Chili with 1 tbsp pickled Jalapenos makes this salsa extra delightful!
- Add a splash of water while blending if the mixture does not blend easily.
- Store leftover Avocado Salsa in an air tight glass container in the fridge for 2 days.
Serving Suggestions
Serve this creamy avocado salsa with your Burritos as a dip or drizzle it over your Burrito Bowl.
Pair it with grilled vegetables along with other dips like this vegan ranch sauce for a customised Mezze platter.
Make snack time a tad healthier and enjoy this dip with nachos, chips or even Poppadums.
Last but not the least- serve this instead of Raita along with your Parathas. The combination is unbelievably addictive.
