I am not doing much this diwali at home. After all, diwali is about sharing happiness and spreading happiness and i wanted to do just that by way of inviting my blogger friends over here and do guest posts. I have some wonderful friends on the blogging block and Vardhini of Cooks Joy is a long time chum whom i ve known for over a year now. She s an energetic full time working super mommy who manages to excel in food photography, keeping her family happy and cooking yummy stuff. Do hop on over to her space for some mouthwatering and easy to whip up delicacies. What s more! Her space is a beginner cook s haven for all her posts are step by step pictorial of how a dish can be prepped. When i asked her if she would do a guest post for me, she readily agreed despite the fact that she had a trip to plan and she was pressed for time. Thank you so much Vardhini. And she brings us this crunchy recipe. Off to Vardhini for her lip smacking post.

When Anusha asked me for a guest post, I was more than happy to do it. I have known her for almost a year and she is always full of energy. Her posts reflect the same and she is a wonderful writer too.
This is one of our favorite snacks and it is also easy to make. Pepper adds that distinct flavor to this snack and you can either use a karasev ladle or make it like murukku and break it into pieces. Have a happy Diwali friends.
It is an addictive snack :). The whole box was empty in a couple of hours.
Ingredients
1 cup besan
1 cup rice flour
2 tbsp ghee
2 tsp peppercorns
1/2 tsp salt
oil to deep fry
My Notes
1. Instead of whole peppercorns, you can use the readily available powder also.
Pictorial
1. Grind the peppercorns to a powder using blender or mortar and pestle.
2. Powdered pepper.
3. Take besan, rice flour and pepper powder in a bowl.
4. Add salt.
5. Mix together.
6. Add ghee.
7. Mix well.
8. Using water form a stiff dough.
9. Dough ready.
10. I used this disc for the karasev.
11. Load the murukku press with dough. Heat oil and directly press the murukku maker over the oil and form a couple of circles. Do not overlap.
12. Remove from oil when the karasev is golden brown. The hissing sound also stops when the karasev is done.
Tasty and yummy snack.
Enjoy!
